Michael Steele R.N.C. chair?

The news around town that former Lt. Governor of Maryland Michael Steele, may head the R.N.C. has important implications for his home state and for the Republican party as a whole. First, lets examine the statement that would be made to the democrat party. Maryland, a democrat state for some 40 years, would have an ally in Washington, with his powerful position as chair of the R.N.C.
He would have opportunity to voice the veiws of the un-represented citizens of the state of Maryland, people who have been squashed by liberal policies and leftist legislation. Maryland is one of the highest taxed states in the union, and our taxes are expected to climb. Lets understand, Mr. Steele will not be able to affect state taxes as R.N.C. chair, however his placement will shed light on the fact that conservative citizens of a historicaly blue state are dissatisfied, and we want "real change" too. Mr. Steele has been known to be a true conservative, and a man of impecable fundamentals. Under his tenure (and Governor Bob Ehrlich), the state of Maryland had a budget surplus for the first time in decades, only to be squandered by the incoming Democrat Governor, Martin (hide your paycheck) O'Malley. Mr. O'Malley managed to spend the surplus before he was even sworn-in, virtualy bankrupting this great state.
The Second issue at hand, how will Barack Obama respond to an African-American chair of the opposition party? I'm pretty sure Mr Steele will not be invited to a game of "hoops" with the President, William Ayers may be invited, certainly not Mr. Steele. Michael Steele's track record as a TRUE change merchant is well defined. His vision for the new direction of the R.N.C. is yet to be made public, but rest assured it will not be full of lofty goals and impossible promises.
